High School Diploma (or equivalent) is required.
Minimum of 5 years lead and lead-free repairing of micro surface mount industrial electronics to component level is required; minimum of 3 years professional experience in service/repair related roles is preferred.
Technical experience in soldering/rework is required.
Trained and certified IPC-A-610 applications specialist, EPTAC 610 Inspection lab or equivalent experience is essential. If not IPC-A-610 certified, Olympus will facilitate this certification for a suitable candidate within the first quarter of employment.
Extensive experience in surface mount rework to component level of industrial electronics is essential.
Must be able to effectively use the following: microscope, lead and lead free RoHS soldering equipment.
Experience with Air Vac Onyx 29 semi-automatic soldering and de-soldering system or equivalent is desired.
Must have ability to read and comprehend standard engineering documentation such as: schematics, BOM’s, wiring diagrams, mark-ups and assembly drawings.
Must possess exceptional surface mount and through-hole PCB rework skills.
Must be highly skilled in surface mount printed circuit board repair.
Excellent attention to detail with the ability to multi-task numerous customer inquiries through to completion is essential.
Must be able excel in fast paced environment, ability to multi-task and work/meet shipping deadlines.
Must be able to read, speak and write English language.

As a Solder rework technician working on the Service team, you will be empowered and inspired to do your best work. You will contribute to our mission by removing and replacing surface mount components enabling us to repair valuable printed circuit boards.” A typical day for you will include:
Performing a wide variety of electronic or electro-mechanical rework tasks in support of service and occasional manufacturing requirements.
Working from rough schematics, blueprints and oral instructions to repair or modify assemblies, sub-assemblies and components. Installs engineering directed change orders (ECO’s).
Performing rework and quality testing. Most work requires use of a microscope during rework activities.
Working frequently includes interaction with development and/or design and production engineering personnel.
Supporting service technicians by quickly and efficiently repairing boards involved in current service processes.
Performing repairs in accordance with appropriate Quality Standards and industry soldering practices.
Applying sound judgment regarding length of time spent on a repair before asking for help or putting a unit aside.
Organizing work area implementing 5-S and LEAN workflow to maximize efficiency.
Must be willing and able to work occasional overtime to meet department workload requirements.
Seeking and accepting guidance as required to assure meeting work goals and to increase competence.
Teaching, mentoring and guiding less experienced personnel.
Accurately entering repair/rework data into the Netsuite service database to ensure accurate recording of all events.
Ensuring all parts used to update or rework PCB’s comply with published Engineering Change Orders for each unit repaired.
Will be expected to perform new product development support; build prototype PCB’s and assemblies utilizing marked-up drawings and schematics.
Performing all other essential duties as assigned.

The Rework Technician will perform efficient, effective, and highly reliable surface mount micro-component replacement and repairs to a wide variety of electronic circuit boards and other devices. The incumbent must have been trained and certified in IPC-A-610 or equivalent soldering standard and have 3 years of experience in lead and lead-free soldering repair of micro surface mount industrial electronics to component level. He/She will posses experience in the use of Air Vac Onyx 29 semi-automatic soldering and de-soldering system or equivalent.
