Olympus America Inc. Financial Analyst III in Southborough, Massachusetts
As a Financial Analyst III working on the Financial Planning and Analysis team, you will be empowered and inspired to do your best work. You will contribute to our mission by strong analytics skills, team collaboration, attention to detail and opportunities to partner with various functions and levels in the organization. A typical day for you will include:
Performing gross margin analysis of forecasts and actual trends to identify and predict long-term changes in sales volumes, product mix and product profitability.
Identifying shortfalls to Corporate Strategic Plans and support Marketing and Sales Business Centers (SBCs) in implementing mitigation plans and identifying new product opportunities to grow business.
Supporting strategic business planning process, working closely with Marketing, Business Intelligence, SBCs and cross-functional OSTA team on division’s margin contribution to parent company.
Partnering with managers by providing analysis tools that will allow functional areas to evaluate and choose between strategic and tactical options, define measurements of success and the related target key performance metrics (KPIs).
Providing reporting and analysis of results against KPIs.
Conducting the quarterly forecast and annual budgeting process for revenue and gross margin, providing consolidated results, and assisting in preparation of presentations for Sr. Management review.
Collaborating with managers by providing analysis tools that will allow functional areas to evaluate and choose between tactical options, define measures of success and the related target metrics and KPIs, and provide reporting and analysis as to results.
Supporting the development of business plans for new products and operations programs and support the development of strategic plans for either new or existing departments, business units, etc.
Assessing the current market, calculate ROI, and identify any existing strengths that can be leveraged or weaknesses that need to be overcome.
Providing sophisticated analytical and modeling solutions to design and implement analytics and reporting solutions to meet both short term and long term needs of the business.
Producing what-if analysis to determine how to improve profitability for all OSTA business centers and sites.
Modeling the impact of various growth, product mix, or operational changes on plant needs and capacity.
Developing summary communication materials for executive level and board presentations, as requested.
Serving as financial lead on project teams, perform financial modeling to facilitate investment decisions, validate financial data, and work to forecast and control and project spend.
Proactively identifying & communicating risks & opportunities in all financial measurements.
Providing ad hoc analytical support as needed.
Performing all other essential duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics is required; MBA or CPA is preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of financial analysis experience in financial reporting and project management.
* Individual must have expert Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with the following software products or their equivalents required: Oracle, Hyperion, Smartview.
Ease with manipulating and interpreting data from multiple sources.
Attention to detail is critical as decisions are often being made off of our work and proposals.
Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills including the ability to identify problems and develop and execute new solutions to obtain results.
Skilled and highly motivated person, who can research, compile, analyze, report and present findings in a clear and concise way.
Manage numerous assignments, identify priorities and exercise good judgment.
Thrive in a fast-moving, often stressful environment and maintain an easy going manner and sense of humor, even as you undertake your responsibilities with a sense of urgency.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
