A typical day for you will include:
Providing creative Human Resources solutions to meet the strategic needs of the supported business groups, by actively engaging with leaders, understanding the business direction of the organization, and linking business strategies to talent needs and workforce development implications.
Supporting Business leadership with human resources issues and reports on trends e.g. attrition, recruitment etc.
Proactively looking for and provides recommendations on improvements to the HR function in collaboration with business and OCA Human Resources leadership where necessary.
Serving as a strategic HR advisor to Business leadership, ensuring organizational support of enterprise-wide HR programs and processes.
Actively participating in various activities in support of the business leveraging corporate HR shared services resources as appropriate, including: partnering with management and talent acquisition on staffing strategies and participating in exit interviews and surveying employee groups to identify learning and development needs to be shared with the Learning & Development so that the appropriate programs may be implemented or designed.
Proactively seeking opportunities for continuous improvement of the OCI HR function, in collaboration with Executive leadership, and HR staff as needed.
Acting in a lead role to ensure resolution of sensitive and confidential issues and concerns raised by all levels of employees, in a confidential, timely, and objective manner.
Conducting and overseeing investigations of escalated HR related employee issues as is necessary.
Ensuring timely and accurate completion of new hire orientation and on-boarding of new employees and identifies training needs and actively supports the career development of employees and managers.
Coaching and educating employees at all levels regarding programs and policies such as benefits, performance management, diversity, anti- harassment, ethics and attendance.
Championing people related data integrity and analysis initiatives, in partnership with OCA Corporate HR shared services functions.
Championing various HR projects including the implementation of HRIS systems, and becomes a super user of various HR related systems e.g. SAP HCM, Brassring, and SuccessFactors so that useful and accurate reporting may be delivered.
Facilitating workforce planning activities with business leaders to understand the forward looking talent implications of planned business strategies and objectives.
Collaborating with business and HR stakeholders to plan for and implement organizational changes.
Maintaining responsibility for internal communication matters working closely with leadership or OCA’s Communication Team as necessary.
Performing other duties as assigned from time to time by management.
May be involved in and/or lead a variety of special projects using HR and other sources as needed.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or equivalent knowledge required; Masters Degree and/or HR certification (PHR/SPHR) preferred.
Minimum of 7 years Human Resources experience, with at least 3 years of experience in a lead capacity. Experience must include experience in at least two of the following: recruitment & staffing, employee relations, HRIS, training, compensation, benefits and career development. Knowledge of current provincial, and local Human Resources- related laws, regulations trends and issues with particular understanding of employee leave and ESA related laws and regulations.
* Ability to travel, as required, to address business needs and/or complex employee relations matters.
Proven ability to handle difficult employee relations issues in a professional and confidential manner.
Proven ability to handle multiple projects and manage HR projects within budget and projected time as established by the business.
Proven ability to analyze data and effectively communicate information in written and verbal form, recommending options designed to address desired business objectives.
Ability to work independently and effectively within a matrix environment.
Experience facilitating and supporting organizational change.
Proficiency with HR Information Systems and Tools e.g. SAP HCM, Success Factors, Brass Ring is highly preferred.
Ability to forge and maintain strategic business partnerships.
Ability to interface with all levels of employees in the organization.

The Sr. Manager, Human Resources is responsible for utilizing HR Business Partner expertise to provide the full range of Human Resources support and leadership to Olympus Canada Inc. (OCI), in the areas of talent needs/ management, employee relations, performance, training, policy interpretation and communication, compensation and benefits. The incumbent in this role will need to successfully collaborate and build relationships of trust with stakeholders including leaders and employees at various levels of the organization as well as HR colleagues within the Americas. The incumbent will engage in both strategic and tactical HR work, partnering with broader HR team(s) as needed to ensure that the HR needs of the organization are supported.
