Olympus America Inc. Senior Product Manager, Upstream Marketing - Energy in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota
Ensuring that all business requirements and stage gate deliverables under the scope of Upstream Marketing are executed in a effective and timely manner for all Technology Development Projects (TDP) and Product Development Projects under his/her scope of responsibility or under his/her team’s scope of responsibility.
Maintaining responsibility for outlining the plan on how to execute these deliverables, as well as which activities will require internal Business Intelligence support, which activities will require external support. They will define associated resources, timelines, budgets and anticipated areas of risks to execute marketing deliverables to plan.
Communicating progress on all PDP activities to key stakeholders and collaborate with project lead to develop mitigation plans to address changes in project plans or changing business dynamics.
Performing market research and regional or localized customer input to define user requirements to help inform the team on the Global Launch strategies and associated regional commercialization plans.
Developing early stage business cases models that reflect market opportunity and projections on market share capture and forecasts on a global scale.
Developing and managing relationships with Key Opinion Leaders who will champion Olympus products and act as advisors in the TDP, PDP and/or Strategy Development efforts.
Building strong relationships and early collaborate with Downstream Commercial teams to ensure the best success of product launches.
Adding value and drive the commercialization plan.
Conducting iterative analysis of competitive landscapes and market intelligence, customer unmet needs, portfolio gaps that are not in current product road maps or in adjacent spaces and new technologies.
Actively participating in industry events, trade shows, training, associations, etc.
Contributing to the development of the portfolio and product pipeline by staying close to their clinical space and understanding the competitive landscape and market dynamics.
Identifying, researching and proposing new areas of opportunity to be considered in the product roadmap in order to bring \"Best in Class\" products and grow Olympus share of the market.
Providing life cycle management of relevant product portfolio.
Maintaining responsibility for driving strategy and tactics in alignment with divisional strategy in order to meet short and long term financial obligations.
Maintaining responsibility to mentor, develop and direct more junior members of the marketing team and for providing clinical background and expertise on the market and product space to their team members.

The Senior Upstream Product Manager will be responsible for executing flawlessly and independently on all assigned product roadmap projects and for delivering on all Marketing commitments throughout the stages of the projects under his/her area of responsibility. The candidate will be providing clear direction to the team and all downstream regional partners on all business deliverable/requirements and design control requirements under their scope of responsibility. He/She requires the development of intimate knowledge of customer needs in relation to the Surgical Energy market and requirements of Surgical Energy in all relevant clinical spaces. The incumbent will possess deep insight into competitive landscape in both existing and emerging markets will inform the identification and development of new technology, product and service opportunities for both internal R&D development as well as partnership opportunities and BD&L. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and self-motivated, with excellent analytic, facilitation, and communication skills (both oral and written). This individual will work collaboratively with team members across Olympus to execute on existing product portfolio initiatives as well as generate business cases and proposals to inform and influence the portfolio and product roadmap and the analysis, selection and presentation of new opportunities. The Senior Upstream Product Manager will report into the Executive Director of Upstream Marketing.
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required; Master's or MBA Degree is strongly preferred.
Minimum of 6 years of business experience (ideal candidate will have a blend of R&D and Upstream Marketing or Upstream & Downstream Marketing or Sales).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in new product development within Medical Devices.
* Must be able to travel 25%-30% (domestic and international).
- Strong clinical competency and analytical skills required.
Ability to lead project teams.
Expert level in Customer Input Tools and Conducting Voice Of Customer.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Proven track record identifying and developing Key Opinion Leader relationships.
Self motivated individual with track record of establishing and executing on goals and successfully leading cross-functional teams.
Broad experience successfully developing new products in the medical device industry from concept to commercialization.
